If Andy Burnham is sensible he'll ensure that Scotland receives equivalent benefits matching anything he does for the north of England. He can't trust the SNP so he'll want to be careful.

Giving funds directly to the SNP can be problematic. English pubs have been in receipt of a massive rates rebate. Scottish pubs received nothing.

As of this morning, Sunday, it looks like Starmer is toast... That opens the question, how does Burnham view Scotland's right to decide and specifically does he agree we are in a voluntary union. Given he advocates more power for Manchester and the north of England how does that square with his view on independence for Scotland. He also advocates a shift in power and prosperity from the South East of England and we nationalist would all agree on that. The question is could he see an independent Scotland being a pull of the economic centre of gravity moving north... And a good thing for the north of England too.

The British state remains the British state regardless of who occupies the office of Prime Minister.

In the middle of painting a huge fence so don't expect me to be in a good mood.

I also read that the 'SCOTTISH OFFICE'.?....also known as Quislings hideout....has admitted that it holds documents discussing Scottish Independence and a section 30 order but has refused to release them.Glad you drew attention to it.

It can only be Scotland where traitors and foreign english refuse to let the Scots see what the hell is going on with their freedom. I regard this as a declaration of war against us. We should march to the offices and take the documents.. after all they are about US and our FREEDOM.

But maybe we should wait for the BIG SECRET to kick in. .....cringy cringy...

Swiney is doing nothing about the huge AI data storage units about to be dumped on our country...while the foreign english voted in the english conservatives in Aberdeen . We can all see the traitor at the wheel now... All you ijits who thought this man would get independence for our nation...how do you feel now?

Absolutely zilch has happened since the vote....did you think we would be halfway to independence by now..heheheheh!..in yer dreams jimmy.Holyrood is an extension of westminster..nothing more nothing less..

The foreign english realise the pathetic wee Scots are focussed on losing the world cup..... ...so they can get up to whatever they please here. ..But while their own hoose is in disarray...that's when WE should stand up finally and say ..the gemme's a bogey ..get oot oor country FOREIGN INVADERS..or else...

How nice the world loves the Tartan Army...well wake up Scots...time we stopped being the cringing lovable clowns staggering aboot drunk and grinning from ear to ear playing oor wee pipes trying tae look like a strong nation....and everybody loves us except you know who..... well world there are different patriotic Scots who want our nation to rise up as it once was and GRAB our freedom back...and if that wee pathetic nation to the south object.....crush them..... we'll be too busy repairing oor country from 300 years of abuse and theft tae dance abbot and play oor pipes...

The alternative is colonisation by the sh*te to the south and the disappearance of Scotland from the map...take your pick...

For OUR Scotland and her cringy weans...

It would indeed have been interesting if the rationale behind the British' S30 refusal had been released for all the reasons you mention.

I imagine that this would have revealed a sneeringly contemptuous attitude towards those currently running the Scottish Government.

Meanwhile I hope that The National notes that the 'not in the public interest' reason for non-release of the information asked for in their very vague, catch-all request is the very same excuse as that employed by our very own Scottish Government in countless FOI applications to the latter over the last 5 or 6 years in some very high profile and newsworthy matters.
