Could it not be argued that having MSP’s from disparate independence parties would force the SNP (assuming it remains the largest contingent of MSPs) to focus on tactics for Independence.
Perhaps even to reform Holyrood into a sensible Scottish government.
At the very least it would encourage the SNP to form a pact with other independence parties. Afraid at present I don’t count the Greens as such.
Such forced pacts within Holyrood could optimistically make it much easier to have future electoral pacts where a single independence candidate stands in each constituency.
You make the all too common mistake of imagining any of these "disparate independence parties" has a credible strategy for restoring independence. As things stand, there is no party or combination of parties which can be relied upon to progress Scotland's cause. None of the nominally pro-independence parties is offering a commitment to action on the constitutional issue. They all TALK about independence. But none of them say precisely how they propose to achieve this goal.
I am a Scottish nationalist. I have nobody to vote for in the 2026 election.
At the moment none of those parties have formed a coherent strategy for achieving what they claim to all want, namely the restoration of Scotland's full self government and return of Scotland's independent statehood.
Coalescing around a common practical process and prospectus to this end is what is needed so that a vote for any party advocating such can be considered a vote in favour of nation-state status for Scotland.
Agreed. But you can say all this till the cows come home.... cos the blinds are up ,the lights are on but the Scots are not at home.
What's the answer? Don't know. ...I believe we are in such a parlous state that only the people rising up and taking to the streets to get back our freedom - that has been missing for 300 years - would achieve independence....but I don't think they have the steely backbone that the Irish showed in order to wrench back their freedom and chuck the foreign english out of their country.
As long as we continue to march about... kilts swinging.. pipes birlin'..wha's like us.... while tourists take pics... we become a cartoon of a country...Brigadoon in fact.Content to let the foreign english make decisions for us...'of course Mr Trump you can land your army on Scotland and attack your enemies..the Scots won't mind..actually I haven't bothered to tell them...heehee!'
My god what nation on earth would allow a foreign nation do that to them?.....Scotland!
The invasion of our country has been won by foreign england and a traitorous Scottish government.

Oh well can but dream of Country before Party.

It's not a pact but a plan that is required.

For the proponents of 'pro-Independence' parties:
Blind loyalty rules. Tribalism has triumphed. Critical faculties are cancelled.
Is this recommending we should not vote for any party that mentions independence ?
Certainly any party that mentions it but has absolutely no intention or plan for that fact on how to deliver it. There's always 🥕 in the mean time.
