Scotland's voters have again handed our national sovereignty to a majority of national representatives who can either assert that sovereignty, or ignore it like they have been doing since 2015.
At the moment the Greens appear to be asking Swinney what he intends to do. So we might see some action, or more likely posturing, this week. A Section 30 letter to Sir Keir? A draft Referendum Bill? Some other initiative of innovation? Or nothing, as the case may be.
Hit looks like thay hiv aw signed up tae ser anither soverane croun, so thay hiv a'ready gied oor soveranety awa for anither 5 year.
Which confirms the SNP/Green majority are neither nationalist nor liberator.
I really don't see any benefit from having nationalist administrations elsewhere in the UK. The problem is that we don't have a Scottish nationalist administration in Scotland.
If the other two parties are more pro-active and adversarial in their approach to Westminster, Swinney will have to react (but then again perhaps he won't)
Despite the SNP's immobility, arguably Scotland is ahead of Wales and Northern Ireland in respect of understanding that independence means decolonization; and through the creation and work of Liberation Scotland, Salvo, SSRG etc., and blogger intellectuals such as Peter, Craig Murray, and the late Iain Lawson, and; that national independence always involves a legal and international dimension well beyond Westminster diktat.
In this regard Liberation Scotland has representatives attending the UN Decolonization Committee (C-24) seminar in Managua next week. The SNP Scottish Government should be supporting such UN initiatives, as other nationalist governments in Non Self-Governing Territories (NSGT's) do, but they fail to comprehend the real meaning of independence and what is involved in liberating 'a people'.
While I am fully supportive of the UN initiative, as I think you know, I am more concerned with the internal political and parliamentary process which must exist if – assuming it is successful – the UN initiative is to be exploited for the benefit of Scotland's cause. Liberation Scotland and the rest are making the flag. We need somebody to hoist it aloft and wave it.
Don't forget the fear factor, Alan. I think many people only voted SNP to keep the unionists out. They weren't indicating that they actually want Swinney & Co to be in charge for the next 5 years. I always regretted holding my nose and voting SNP at the last election. I didn't even consider voting for them this time.
You took the words right out of my mouth...well...finger as I'm typing this. Had there been no Reform I think a there would have been a significantly lower percentage of SNP vote with the nose holders with gritted teeth brigade like me just not coming out to help build the barricade against the far right. I reluctantly voted for them purely because they were the lesser of two potential evils and because there was no other realistic option to keep the unionists out. I have to say I felt very grubby in doing that as I know voting SNP will not lead to the independence I pray for with their current feeble cap in hand strategy
Swinney definitely went for the fear factor. He was always on about the threat of Reform UK. But there was never any real danger of them or any of the British parties taking power.
Despite the occasional grandstanding and bombastic rhetoric our would be political freedom fighters in the existing supposedly pro-Independence parties still don't, as Alasdair Grey might have observed, act "as if you live in the early days of a better nation".

May I suggest a caption for the graphic at the top of your article: The New Thinker.
This is a brilliant comment by you Peter...this needs to reach the Scottish people...but won't..not while we are in hoc to the foreign malicious english media .. I see Scots lift the foreign english newspapers and ignore the' National.' which is hidden on the bottom shelf of Tesco.... ( foreign english company).. I have spoken to shoppers re these papers and they look at me like I am mad ..nod kindly but still lift the foreign english lies....
Any suggestions short of threatening them with serious injury if they don't stop reading the foreign english press? This is a brilliant example of Jockholme Syndrome...or like the Eloi( lived above ground) in the Time Machine who as soon as the Morlochs ( lived below ground) sounded a hooter the Eloi walked in a daze to the underground killing areas where they were clubbed and devoured by the Morlochs...as foreign england devours our resources and clubs us with insults.
You hit the nail on the head with..'Tame Compliance'. I reiterate that we need better information for the Scottish nation...how can you judge what is happening in your country when you are fed lies or sit in a daze watching Netflix...eating your crappy carry out.
I had a discussion with Scots in a shop in the village..they were unaware that Americans used our bases to attack Iran..without the knowledge of the Scottish Government. What would I have done in protest?...I would have made the Prestwick runway unusable..for a start. ( the Scottish government owns it).that would at least have been some sort of 'protest' at the foreign english giving America use of our land.( unknown to us)
But while we have a traitorous leader...what chance. When I casually mentioned the insult by a Reform candidate ..'Scotland is a turd'...etc...to the folk I was talking to..they were shocked and by the look on one face I reckon she had voted Reform. Information is the life blood of a country..Scotland is bleeding to death...
My answer as always is the Irish way...you fight for your freedom..it won't ever come on a plate and especially not from the foreign english sh*te that now occupy our country.
You could not more correct. Leadership to test and challenge the boundaries imposed by Westminster. Matters which concern the majority and likely to improve their wellbeing and thereby garner support of the majority, not the SNP nonsense we've had in the Sturgeon years. We've got restore confidence in our Scottish government, so badly lacking at present.

Maybe having Plaid Cymru and Sinn Fein on their six o'clock will ginger them up a bit...

The Sturgeon doctrine is highly averse to confrontation.

Which why I've decided to have another shot at launching New Scotland Party.
Agree 100%.,
'True leadership is doing what is right, not what is permitted'
Yet the people are seemingly happy with the status quo! They just voted him in AGAIN!
Civil disobedience is all we have.
I've been thinking about that.

Let's hope that Peter and others can get the New Scotland Party established so that we won't be in that position at the next election.
Totally! There must be a lot of people who want independence but need a proper political home, finding the SNP as being currently unfit for purpose

For OUR Scotland and her dazed weans.
True, and the Welsh and Northern Irish governments have accepted that necessity on behalf of their people.
How long will it take for the S0cottish government to accept this reality?
